Denon Blu-ray

Denon introduced their cheapest the Blu-ray player, the DVD-1800BD. With a $750 price tag, it is the least-expensive model in the company’s line. Given the latest criticism that the high price of Blu-ray is what’s keeping it from doing well, Denon has still decided to release this ‘more affordable’ player. Making things eve worse is that the DVD-1800BD only has Blu-ray Profile 1.1 which means no ethernet connection, although you do get picture in picture.

The DVD-1800BD features HDMI 1.3a with Deep Color and Bonus View support, Dolby TrueHD output, DTS-HD Master Audio in bit stream format, and dedicated stereo analog output. It lacks onboard Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding, and the aforementioned Blu-ray Profile 2.0.

Given the high price tag with average features we’ll see how long it’ll be until they lower the price. In the meantime look for this in October for $750
