The box art for Universal’s The Mummy Returns has just been unveiled for the July 22nd release. It is the studio’s first Blu-ray release and this box art is presumably what their future releases will also look like. The words “The Perfect HI-DEF MOVIE Experience” along the bottom have replaced the studio’s old DVD slogan of “The Look and Sound of Perfect” .

Universal will be bringing its first direct-to-video Blu-ray this August 19th with the release of The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior sans Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Universal is bringing football comedy Leatherheads, starring George Clooney, over to Blu-ray August 26th. Paramount has now officially confirmed the specs for Top Gun which will be released July 29th with added features over the HD-DVD version.

Back to the Future producer, Scott Gale, showed fans a new digitally remastered version of the film at a screening near Orlando this past weekend, which was produced for the eventual Blu-ray release. “What you’re going to be seeing today is the digital master for the upcoming high-definition Blu-ray version of Back to the Future,’” Gale told the audience. “I don’t know when it’s coming out yet, but I was involved in the mastering of this tape, so I can tell you that it looks absolutely beautiful!” Gale also stated that the Back to the Future trilogy would have supplemental features that included never-before-seen bonus material, though he stated no specifics.
Universal has yet to release any information on this release. Stay tuned for more details as the Back to the Future trilogy is sure to be one the most anticipated Blu-ray releases.
