Upcoming Releases Info May 28, 2008

Here are today’s Blu-ray announcements for upcoming releases:

Transformers (Paramount)

Paramount has now confirmed previous rumors about Transformers  and it will indeed be released September 2nd. Video: 1080p Audio:Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround (DVD and HD-DVD only included a Dolbly Digital track) Extras: Audio commentary with Michael Bay, a pair of four-part documentaries (’Our World’ & ’Their War’), the ‘From Script to Sand: The SKORPONOK Desert Attack’ featurette, a ‘Concepts’ gallery, theatrical trailers, and easter eggs. Release date: September 2, 2008 MSRP: $39.98

Top Gun (Paramount)

Paramount will be releasing Top Gun July 29 on Blu-ray after original plans to release it were scrapped due to Paramount’s then HD-DVD exclusivity deal. No tech specs have been revealed yet. Release date: July 29, 2008 MSRP: $29.99

Nixon (Disney)

Disney has notified retailers that Oliver Stone’s Nixon will be released this August in a Director’s Cut version that includes additional footage. It has been dubbed the ‘Election Year Edition’ and will include 26 minutes of material not contained in the theatrical release. Tech specs are not yet available. Release date: August 19, 2008 MSRP: $34.98
